Save the Date and Invitation Schedule
Your Save the Dates and Invitations are the first impression you are giving your invited guests and is a small representation of what your guests can expect at your wedding! We take great care in researching and planning your stationery needs and want to ensure that we are with you through every step of the way.
Here are a few glossary items for you to know before moving forward:
Save the Date: A physical card that your guests will receive before receiving their invitation. Save the Dates are typically sent out 6-12 months before the wedding. Save the Dates provide your guests information such as the first and last names of the couple, the wedding date, your wedding website, and the city of the wedding. Either to cut costs or to save time, some couples opt to have virtual Save the Dates that can be sent via email to your guests.
Invitation: A physical card that your guests receive after they have received their Save the Dates. Invitations are typically sent out 12-14 weeks before the wedding. Invitations are a great resource for your guests and typically include information such as the first and last names of the couple, the name of the venue, the city of the wedding, the wedding venue (s), the wedding date, and the ceremony start time. Either on the back of the invitation or on a separate card in the invitation envelope, please remember to include a link to your wedding website.
Wedding Website: A website that includes information about your wedding. Wedding websites can be created through Minted.com, Zola, etc. We recommend Minted.com because we have found it is the easiest resource for our couples to use. We also have several promotions and discounts through Minted for you to use. An example of a wedding website I have created can be found here: catanddustin.minted.us
RSVP Card: These were used before wedding websites became popular. Traditionally, an RSVP card with proper postage was included in your guests' invitations so that guests could write in whether they were attending or not. On RSVP cards, it was also very popular to ask your guests about their meal selection. RSVP cards have been replaced with wedding websites (see above example) for guests to easily RSVP online. No more RSVP cards getting lost in the mail or waiting to receive them. Now everything is easy and online through your wedding website. If certain family members do not have internet access, it is best to communicate with them directly and manually include their RSVP online for them.
