Gratuity Guide

Let’s talk about something you might not be thinking about while picking floral arrangements and debating the merits of chocolate vs. vanilla cake: TIPS! And no, not wedding *planning* tips—actual money tips!

On the wedding day, our team will be responsible for giving out these tips. We recommend placing cash tips in an envelope labeled by each vendor.

When it comes to your wedding day, tipping your vendors isn’t just a way to say "thank you"—it’s a way to show some love to the people making your day absolutely magical. So, let’s break it down with a cute, stress-free guide to tipping like a pro!

1. Delivery & Setup Crew

The crew delivering and setting up all your fabulous decor, furniture, or maybe that jaw-dropping cake? Yep, they deserve a little something! You’re looking at about $5-$20 per person, which our team can hand them after they’ve set everything up to perfection. Don’t worry—no one’s expecting a massive tip, just a little token of appreciation!

2. DJ or Musicians

Your DJ is keeping the dance floor packed, and your musicians are providing that tear-inducing, romantic ceremony soundtrack. Show them some love! A good rule of thumb is 20-25% of their total bill or $25-$50 per musician at the end of their performance.

3. Hair & Makeup Artists

These magical artists are transforming you and your wedding party into red-carpet-ready stars. Once you’re all glammed up, a 15-20% tip is the way to go. It’s the bridal version of tipping your hairstylist after a fabulous cut!

4. Officiant

Whether it’s your officiant or a beloved family member who’s marrying you, a little gratuity goes a long way! You can offer a $50-$100 tip, make a $100-$500 donation to their organization, or even give a thoughtful gift. You’ll want to take care of this at the rehearsal, so you’re not stressing on the big day.

Check Your Contract First!

(AKA the "Oh, I Didn't Know That Was Included" Tips)

Some vendors include gratuity in the contract, so double-check before handing out any envelopes.

5. Bartenders

Your bartenders are the keepers of all things bubbly and brew-y! Make sure they’re well taken care of by tipping 10-20% of your total alcohol bill. It’s usually done at the end of the reception (post-last call, of course!).

6. Catering Staff

The catering staff are responsible for making sure you, your guests, and your 2nd cousin twice removed don’t go hungry. At the end of the night, a 15-20% tip on the total food & beverage bill is the norm. If your package doesn’t include gratuity, you can also hand out cash tips directly.

Bonus Tip: Consider giving tips to the head server or maître d’ that have provided extra-special service!

7. Transportation

If you’ve got a limo, trolley, getaway car, or anything fancy with wheels, your drivers are the real MVPs of wedding day logistics. Show them some love by tipping 15-20% of the total transportation bill, usually when they pick you up or after your final ride.

Wrapping It All Up

Look, gratuity doesn’t have to be confusing or stressful. At the end of the day, tipping is just a way to say, "Hey, thanks for being awesome!" And when it’s done right, your vendors will feel the love just as much as you will on your wedding day. Now, go forth, plan your dream wedding, and prep those envelopes with either cash or a sweet note!
